Our Teachers

Ry Stephenson

From an early age, Ry knew his future was in music. He started playing drums when he was ten years old, and soon afterward taught himself to play guitar and bass. With 12 years of professional experience and over 1000 gigs in almost every state in the US, Ry still plays with the curiosity and energy of that 10 year old boy.

As a well-rounded musician, Ry is capable of playing many styles of music and many instruments. He toured with Freakbass for 2 years, a funk band produced and mentored by Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artist Bootsy Collins. Also, he has played with such diverse and popular artists as CMA recording artist Dan Varner, Danny Frazier, Sonny Moorman Group,Seth Alder Project, 8ball junkies, Morticite, G. Burton, Kevin Fox Band, Norm Stockton, Big Whiskey, Acumen, No Saints No Saviors, 500 miles to Memphis, Matt Winter, Kursk, Upshot and shared the stage with Buckethead, Taylor Swift, Craig Morgan, Tracy Lawrence, Blake Shelton, Confederate Railroad, Little Texas, John Michael Montgomery and others. Ry has been nominated for 2 CEA music awards in the 'Best Country Band" category and won 2 CEA's for "Best Funk Band".

Make-Up/Cancellation Policy for Private Music Lessons

If a student must cancel a lesson, it is to be done at least 24 hours before the lesson, or the lesson is forfeited. We understand that illnesses are unexpected, but we are still responsible to pay rent for the room if we are scheduled to use it. If a student is ill, please do not come to the lesson. It is the student's or parent's responsibility to contact the teacher if a lesson is to be missed and also arrange for any make-up lesson if a time is available.

Inclement Weather

During the school year, if the Fairfield City Schools cancel school due to inclement weather, there will not be lessons that day. No make-up lessons for inclement weather and no charge.

Once a single lesson or lesson block of 4 is completed, it is assumed that lessons will continue at the same scheduled time the following week. A weeks notice is requested to inform the teacher that the student intends to discontinue taking lessons. Teachers will provide students with contact phone numbers and email addresses. Communication between students and teachers is important.
